Uncherished Gems

By: The Poetic One

A chance is all they ask,
In glory they do not bask.
Like square pegs in round holes,
The hinterland they so depend on refuses to offer suitable roles.

As the global pandemic threatens to leave all in its tracks,
Their indefatigable courage just about kept them intact.
Unlike their vastly fortunate counterparts who grouse upon the slightest setbacks,
These invisible warriors toil in the hope of avoiding their retrenchment packs.

Unwavering spirit they possess in abundance,
Sadly in most eyes they seemed redundant.
One by one they fall to a mass destruction;
Is there really no place to accommodate their contributions?

Their survival instincts, many do not hold in high esteem,
But without it, their world will certainly dissipate in a trail of steam.
The time is now ripe to ordain a self-reflection,
That their dedication and perseverance deserve our utmost commendation.

Full Circle

By: The Poetic One

Lofty dreams I have since young,

Seemed to have swept me off the ground.

Head swelling as thoughts run wild,

Envisioning my future all this while.

Thought I owned the right to succeed,

Only to find a path laden with obstacles as I proceed.

Though success was always near,

Paradoxically there was never a cheer.

Albeit conceding the race was an option,

The constant struggles have certainly not dampened my aspiration.

Prohibiting capitulation into complacency,

All for the goal of attaining supremacy.

As the ink on the letter dries,

It signifies the attainment of the ultimate prize.

Throughout my existence seeking the realization of a miracle,

Life for me has certainly come full circle.
